CREATIVITY ON THE VENTILATOR, BUT NOT DEAD: Ahimsagram

Dated: OCTOBER 25, 2016

‘A small step is all it takes for big wonders’

Through my life I have let myself believe that I am not a creative person and my brain works in very straight line. Ever since joining Ahimsagram my perspective about various things has been changing.

Reasons such as the mechanical learning which I was taught in school and the robotic training for the competitive exams, my creativity has become like having a life on ventilator, barely surviving. What happened today made me realize that maybe even I am creative, maybe everyone was born creative and apparently there is hope for everyone.

It began when today, as the acting operation leader of Kitchen (and unavailability of remaining members  of the kitchen team), I was asked to imagine how the kitchen should look, how judiciously should I use the available resources and the layout of the racks.

With lack of ideas and having a handicapped creativity, I presented a simple two extra rack plan to make space for the herbal tea counter and dry fruits counter. Eventually on discussion with Shammi, he suggested two more racks locations along with a place for an additional chopping station in form of folding slab. Someone else made me realise this slab can also be used as a juice counter. A third person then suggested the size of the rack. Plan was also made for a separate serving station(outside the kitchen) and for soft-board over the serving station for putting up recipes, ingredients and similar things.

On seeing so many suggestions coming through, I suggested a cupboard at the top of side wall to act as a mini storage for us. From the vision of two racks to ending up with so many things really amazed me. Kitchen in Ahimsagram has completely been changed into something else. While so many people eventually contributed in making it what it is at the moment, a simple creative suggestion by me was a big one in my life as it made me realise that although my creativity is on ventilator but it is not dead. For me, Ahimsagram is my ventilator. I hope it will help me in curing the illness my creativity is going through.

When it comes to creativity, we all are just living on ventilators. Take support of your ventilator and try to cure the creativity. I have started to take that support, you can do it as well. Also, if you feel that creativity is not an important thing to look after, but according to me creativity has a direct link to our leadership quality as well.
